There are many benefits that you will be able to enjoy when you choose to read the Bible, at least a bit of it, each day. Many of us assume that the Bible is a great book that can benefit us, but we think that reading a few pages on occasion will be enough to make the dent in our lives that we would like. But if we would like to feed our souls and feel amazing at the same time, then we need to implement Bible reading into our daily lives.
When we take the time during our day to read the Bible, we are able to be fed off God’s Word, giving us the supply that we need in our Christian lives. This feeding of the soul is discussed in various verses throughout the Bible and is something that everyone can benefit from. One well-known example of this is found in Matthew 4:4: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out through the mouth of God.”
During the day, we will take the time to eat physical food. Doing this will supply us with some of the nutrients that we need to live and have a healthy life as well. We need that energy to spend time with friends and family, to work, to move around, and to just live our lives. When we skip a meal, we can start to get grumpy and tired, and even weak. And the more meals we skip, whether they are in a row or all together, the more likely it will lead to greater problems, like a major illness that we need to deal with.
The same thing can happen when we eat spiritual food. We will be supplied to live well in our Christian lives, but when we step away and do not keep up with reading the Bible, we can become spiritually grumpy, weak and tired. We may even struggle to handle some of the difficult situations that come up in our lives and we won’t be able to cope with the challenges of being a believer.
Whether you choose to read a large portion of the Bible each day or you go with a Bible verse of the day to make sure that it fits into your schedule, you will find that spending time with God is never wasted. We can be fed by the Word, working to make our spirit feel full and satisfied in a way that worldly things around us just can’t do. Take the time to find the right Bible verse of the day and see what a difference it can make in feeding your soul.
